Great
Atmosphere!
Whether you are coming for a Colorado adventure-of-a-lifetime, to
reunite with distant relatives, or for a wilderness inspiration
for your ministry,
Ponderosa Lodge has the facilities and activities youre seeking.
Throughout the year, we can accommodate your special group. We
host corporate retreats, statewide association meetings, ministry
formation
classes, and various seminars and workshops.
Our 18 guest rooms in the lodge and 6 cabins allow us to sleep
up to 118
people. Some rooms sleep 4 and some 6, with all single beds. Each
room has its own complete bathroom, and all linens are provided.
In the lodge, we have one large meeting room and several smaller
break-out areas. Our dining room features a cathedral ceiling
and spectacular views of Mt. Shavano and the surrounding forest.
The huge fireplace and redwood deck add to the charm of the lodge.
Our big red barn actually houses a heated, indoor
swimming pool, upstairs basketball court and 3 additional meeting
rooms. Outdoors, we have a hottub, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe
pits, playground, and picnic pavilion. An improved trail follows
a 12-station, low ropes team building course.
During
the winter most of our guests are church youth groups coming for
a
ski retreat. The fun at Monarch Ski and Snowboard Area often serves
as
either a lure to bring kids into a youth ministry program or as
a reward for
those who have given of themselves for a mission project. In addition
to
downhill skiing and snowboarding, you can try cross-country skis,
snow shoes or snowmobiles.
In the evening, devotional activities can be as simple as a Bible
and a
guitar, or as elaborate as a multi-media presentation with inspirational
speaker and full band. We provide the space, and you provide the
type of
worship appropriate to your group.
During the summer the lodge serves many family reunions and church
family camps. Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, whitewater rafting,
and rock and mountain climbing all compete with the temptation
to just sit around, relax and visit. The choice is yours.

Great Fun!
You can soak in the hot tub, stroll the improved trails, play horse
shoes, volleyball or badminton, or hang out and enjoy doing nothing.
Cross the fence to the forest or drive a few miles down the road
for adventure. It's only minutes to great downhill
skiing and snowboarding at Monarch, or to wonderful white water
rafting on the world famous Arkansas River. Hike, mountain bike,
or go by horseback on summer trails or try cross-country skiing
or snowmobiling in the winter. Learn more
about these activities.
Fish in rivers, streams, and lakes. Try a canoe. Take auto or
4X4 tours over the high passes and through the surrounding ghost
towns. Try mountain climbing and rappelling. Pan for gold, watch
the wildlife, or search for gem stones and minerals in the mountains.
The area offers historical tours, dramatic productions, art galleries,
concerts and a variety of special events. Its all here for
you to enjoy.
